"The process of inducing a trance should be regarded as a method of
teaching patients a new manner of learning something, and thereby
enabling them to discover unrealized capacities to learn, and to act in
new ways which may be applied to other and different things."

                                                           --Milton H. Erickson, MD
The Institute trains helping professionals in the art and science of clinical hypnosis and Ericksonian
psychotherapy
.

Milton H. Erickson, MD created a new psychotherapy for each client.  Rather than relying on a formula or a set of
rules, he developed each treatment for his own vivid, astute observation of the person in front of him.

The
Dallas Institute was established in 2000, evolving from several years of professional seminars led by Betty Alice
Erickson, MS
.  In the spirit of Erickson's work, the Dallas Institute's program supports each learner's strengths so that
s/he can create unique approaches for each client.

Our training can enhance the skills and healing ability of a wide range of professionals, including psychotherapists
(
psychiatrists, social workers, professional counselors, etc), family practitioners, hospice workers, and others.

"Now, all of the things I've said to you will come back translated into your own language, into your own
ways of understanding.  And, in the future, you will discover sudden insights, sudden understanding, a
sudden thought that you hadn't thought of before.  It will only be your unconscious mind, feeding to
your conscious mind things that you already knew, but you didn't know that you knew.  Because we all
do our own learning in our own way."
