Who We Are . . .
Our teaching staff and board include:

Betty Alice Erickson, MS
Betty Alice Erickson has had decades of experience with hypnosis--she began serving as a demonstration subject
for her father, Milton H. Erickson, in the 1950's.  A psychotherapist in Dallas for over 20 years, and editor for the
Erickson Foundation Newsletter for over ten years, she has authored three books, and numerous chapters and
articles about hypnosis and Ericksonian Psychotherapy. Her latest book is "Milton H. Erickson, An American Healer"
    with co-editor Bradford Keeney.

An Approved Consultant for the American Society for Clinical Hypnosis, Betty Alice teaches and trains throughout
the world.  Keynote Speaker as well as faculty for many international and national congresses and conferences,
she has won various awards for her teaching including the prestigious Franco Grannone Prize from the Centro
Italiano di Ipnosi Clinica Sperimentale. Highly approachable and "down-to-earth" she tells a great story and her
listeners find their learning continues long after the sound of her voice has faded.

Deborah Beckman, MS, Education Coordinator
Deborah has carefully developed her innate talent for hypnosis.  Working with Betty Alice Erickson, she has
emerged as a powerful and original therapist and now shares her abilities through presentations at international
hypnotherapy conferences, as well as through trainings at the Dallas Institute.  She is an Approved Consultant for
ASCH and conducts a Consultation group as well as individual Consultations to guide practitioners toward
Certification with ASCH.  Deborah is fascinated by and adept with metaphor, collaborating with her clients to turn
their own metaphorical worlds into healing ones.

Will Handy, MSSW, Education Coordinator
Will excels in accessibility, making Erickson's philosophy intimately available to clients and peers alike.  His
teaching is notable for clarity and humor.  While thoroughly Ericksonian, Will weaves a more traditional-looking
session, only occasionally using outright hypnosis.  Will has studied and worked with Ericksonian principles for over
25 years, beginning his studies with Dawna Markova, PhD.  He began studying with Betty Alice Erickson in 1997.
He has also studied meditation, examining the similarities and differences between this practice and hypnosis.  In
recent years he has worked to integrate meditation as another tool in therapy.

Richard Long, PsyD
Richard has a varied practice that includes assessment and treatment of adults, adolescents, children, as well as
couples and families.  He is known for his innovative treatment approaches using hypnosis, cognitive- behavioral
therapy, and other modalities.  He has taught graduate students at Southern Methodist University, the University of
Texas as Dallas and the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at Dallas.
